Created To Solve Problems

“Created to Solve Problems” was contribued by one of my clients, Steven Roddy based out of Atlanta, Georgia.  Thanks, Steven, for your words of wisdom!  This is a great message for your own self-realization purposes this week.
Enjoy!

Finding your purpose is a lot like finding your soul mate. This question is huge because it points to what you are going to spend the rest of your life pursuing. Just like marriage is a huge question, spending the rest of your life with one person, this question is on the same playing field. One just doesn’t say, “Hey, you are funny. Let’s get married.” Likewise, one would not say, “Hey, you pay the bills, let me spend my life’s efforts for your company.” The problem is we never intend to, but we get caught up in the day-to-day rat race and then at the end of the day we are so tired we just want to escape from the reality that we call life. How do you muster up the courage to say first, “I am not doing what I want to do with my life and secondly say I am going to do something about it…today? I am not going to wait till tomorrow, today I am going to make a decision and today I am going to walk towards that decision.”?

Most of us know within ourselves if we are doing what we desire to do. When we look at the time and say it is almost time to go to work and immediately we feel the dread that comes over us. So most times what we do is we quit one job and go to another job hoping that we will find satisfaction in that. And initially we do. The change of people, problems and tasks energizes us and our hope soars until a couple months pass by and we are facing the same hate-dread for this job as we did the last one. The truth is you will never experience that deep down satisfaction until you discover your purpose.

Now if we were created for a purpose then someone with a specific purpose in mind created us. On this earth anyone who has ever invented anything has done so to solve a problem. A cup was made so that people could carry the water so if they were thirsty they would not have to go back to the river. A pen was invented so people did not have to write with a feather and ink. A car was invented to get people from point A to point B faster. Likewise, our inventor created you to solve a particular problem that He knew would be going on during your life on earth. The crazy thing is, and this is really hard to wrap your brain around, no one else will be able to solve the problem that you were created to solve like you.

When an architect is hired to build a building he asks questions such as what will it purpose be? What is it going to be used for? How many people will it have to hold? What is your budget? Likewise when God created you He thought what is her purpose going to be? What am I going to use her for? How many people is he going to effect directly? Indirectly? And since God’s budget is unlimited he spared no expense on you.

So an inventor, or creator, acknowledges a problem in society or in his or her personal world. Then they think of a solution to that problem.
Fill in the blanks here, “If only I had a ______ we would not have to worry about ______ anymore.”   What is your solution(s) to that?
You are God’s object that He created to solve a particular problem on this earth. You were born into a particular family (regardless of the circumstances) so that your body, mind and emotions would be shaped in such a way so that you could not only solve some of the world’s problems but make a great living doing so while being completely satisfied.

Hydration For Every-Body

As summer draws near and upcoming heat waves are nearly upon us….and after my own experience of overheating this past weekend in a brief heat wave in Southern California, I thought this was a timely article for your health and how to support your bodies with proper hydration.  Beware of drinks such as gatorade, energy drinks, powerade, etc…..they are not the most effective for you.

Conversation About Sports Drinks
For Athletes & Every - Body

Depletion of the body’s carbohydrate
stores and dehydration are two factors
that will limit prolonged exercise.

Dehydration
Sweating is the way in which the body maintains its core temperature at 37 degrees centigrade. This results in the loss of body fluid and electrolytes (minerals such as chloride, calcium, phosphate, magnesium, sodium and potassium) and if unchecked will lead to dehydration and eventually circulatory collapse and heat stroke. The effect of fluid loss on the body is as follows:
% of body weight
lost as sweat Physiological Effect
2% Impaired performance
4% Capacity for muscular work declines
5% Heat exhaustion
7% Hallucinations
10% Circulatory collapse and heat stroke

Electrolytes
Electrolytes serve three general functions in the body:
many are essential minerals
they control osmosis of water between body compartments
they help maintain the acid-base balance required for normal cellular activities

The sweat that evaporates from the skin contains a variety of electrolytes. The electrolyte composition of sweat is variable but comprises of the following components:

Sodium
Potassium
Calcium
Magnesium
Chloride
Bicarbonate
Phosphate
Sulphate
Carbohydrate

Carbohydrate is stored as glucose in the liver and muscles and is the most efficient source of energy as it requires less oxygen to be burnt than either protein or fat. The normal body stores of carbohydrate in a typical athlete are:

70kg male athlete - Liver glycogen 90g and muscle glycogen 400g
60kg female athlete - Liver glycogen 70g and muscle glycogen 300g
During hard exercise, carbohydrate can be depleted at a rate of 3-4 grams per minute. If this is sustained for 2 hours or more, a very large fraction of the total body carbohydrate stores will be exhausted and if not checked will result in reduced performance. Recovery of the muscle and liver glycogen stores after exercise will normally require 24-48 hours for complete recovery.

During exercise there is in an increased uptake of blood glucose by the muscles and to prevent blood glucose levels falling, the liver produces glucose from the liver stores and lactate.

Consuming carbohydrate before, during and after exercise will help prevent blood glucose levels falling too low and also help maintain the body’s glycogen stores. Many athletes cannot consume food before or during exercise and therefore a formulated drink that will provide carbohydrate is required.

Fluid absorption

There are two main factors that affect the speed at which fluid from a drink gets into the body:

the speed at which it is emptied from the stomach
the rate at which it is absorbed through the walls of the small intestine

The higher the carbohydrate levels in a drink the slower the rate of stomach emptying. Isotonic drinks with a carbohydrate level of between 6 and 8% are emptied from the stomach at a rate similar to water. Electrolytes, especially sodium and potassium, in a drink will reduce urine output, enable the fluid to empty quickly from the stomach, promote absorption from the intestine and encourage fluid retention.

What’s about water for prolonged exercise?
Drinking plain water only in prolonged exercise (longer than 60-90 minutes) can cause bloating, suppresses thirst and thus further drinking. It stimulates urine output and therefore is inefficiently retained. A poor choice where high fluid intake is required. Water contains no carbohydrates or electrolytes.

Sports Drinks
There are three types of Sports drink all of which contain various levels of fluid, electrolytes and carbohydrate.
Type Content
Isotonic Fluid, electrolytes and 6-8% carbohydrate
Hypotonic Fluids, electrolytes and a low level of carbohydrate
Hypertonic High level of carbohydrate

The osmolality of a fluid is a measure of the number of particles in a solution. In a drink these particles will comprise of carbohydrate, electrolytes, sweeteners and preservatives. In blood plasma the particles will comprise of sodium, proteins and glucose. Blood has an osmolality of 280-330mOsm/kg. Drinks with an osmolality of 270-330mOsm/kg are said to be in balance with the body’s fluid and are called Isotonic. Hypotonic fluids have fewer particles than blood and Hypertonic have more particles than blood.
Consuming fluids with a low osmolality, e.g. water, results in a fall in the blood plasma osmolality and reduces the drive to drink well before sufficient fluid has been consumed to replace losses.

Which is most suitable?
Isotonic - quickly replaces fluids lost by sweating and supplies a boost of carbohydrate. This drink is the choice for most athletes - middle and long distance running or team sports. Glucose is the body’s preferred source of energy therefore it may be appropriate to consume Isotonic drinks where the carbohydrate source is glucose in a concentration of 6% to 8% - e.g. High Five, SiS Go, Boots Isotonic, Lucozade Sport.

Hypotonic - quickly replaces fluids lost by sweating. Suitable for athletes who need fluid without the boost of carbohydrate - jockeys and gymnasts.

Hypertonic - used to supplement daily carbohydrate intake normally after exercise to top up muscle glycogen stores. In ultra distance events high levels of energy are required and Hypertonic drinks can be taken during exercise to meet the energy requirements. If used during exercise Hypertonic drinks need to be used in conjunction with Isotonic drinks to replace fluids.

Dental Health
Sports drinks commonly contain citric acid. All acids have an erosive potential but the method of drinking will influence whether or not those acids affect the teeth. Sports drinks should be consumed as quickly as possible, preferably with a straw and not be held or swished around the mouth. Retaining drinks in the mouth will only increase the risk of erosion. Refrigerated drinks will have a reduced erosive potential as the acid dissolution constant is temperature dependant and cold drinks are absorbed more quickly.

Death By Shark

After initially writing this article, another man (24-year-old American) was attacked and killed off the coast of Mexico.  CLICK HERE for that story.

Most often when I hear about people that died that I don’t even know, I don’t usually give it too much of a second thought after saying a prayer and offering up my sympathies quietly to their loved ones.  Sometimes there is a personal connection on some other level, however, that makes me stop and think a bit longer.

This week was one of those times.

Even though I didn’t know Dr. Dave Martin, 66-years-old triathlete of San Diego, California, I feel as though I should have.

As a fellow triathlete, Dr. Martin died doing what he loved best, swimming and training with the local triathlon club in the ocean off of Solana Beach near San Diego.  A great white shark believed he was a seal, a.k.a. a tasty morsel to dine on for lunch.  One bite was all it took.

I had not even heard about the event directly.  The story came to my conscious awareness via phone calls and emails of concerned friends and family who wondered if it was me that was out in the ocean that fateful day.  Fortunately, I had been in the ocean for a similar triathlon training session just a bit north the previous week and was not around to experience this one.  Kinda made me stop and wonder….and the shark is still out there.

Local broadcasts in southern California have stated that the attack of this rare great white shark was likened to being struck by a bolt of lightning.  What are the chances, right?
CLICK HERE for the full story.

Many have commented on how awful to die in such a way.  I realized something about myself and death/dying as soon as I heard about his love for swimming.  Dr. Martin died doing what he loved.  He knew the risks, as do any triathletes or surfers or swimmers in the ocean, and he and his group went anyway.  I can not think of a better way to go.

Even his colleagues/friends were heard saying that being there and seeing their friend’s attack would not deter them from swimming and surfing anytime soon.  That is commitment.  Some might say crazy, yet they are not triathletes or lovers of the Ocean.

The chances were very slim of this event happening and yet his timing in being in the ocean at that exact moment and the shark singling his wetsuit-clad body out of all the others might seem baffling. Yet, as in anything in life, anything can happen, even when you least expect it.

Great reminder to me this week to live life to the fullest.  Also reminds me of that old saying, “Love what you do and do what you love, no matter what the cost.”

Here’s to you and your own living life to the fullest.
Don’t let the “sharks” in your life stop you!

Cash Flow Gulf Front Property In Mississippi

As always, any real estate idea, project, opportunity that is referenced in this newsletter blog is to help promote other real estate investor companies to help with your wealth building portfolios.  Due diligence and research is still recommeded and complete at your own behalf/responsibility, as with any investment.

Stone Equity Group, a profitable real estate strategy company based out of Southern California, has a real estate investing project in Biloxi, Mississippi.  You can get all the details from the real estate investor concierge company, SEG, at their company link below.
The basic details include two projects in Biloxi that come with a $5000 cash investment, require a 680 credit score or better with W2 employment income (different score
with stated income),  $25K liquid assets available and loan approval
with their lender and you are good to go.  The monthly cash flow is nearly $200 or better per month (which would cover our agreement) and the Pro Forma documentation projects a $50K gross income of cash flow over five years.  That does not include the appreciation in this expanding, high demand ocean/beach front property area, as well as the tax advantages and the opportunity to buy more
than one and expand that income/revenue/tax advantages.

The power of steering

Recently I had a “hands-on” experience and reminder of how important power steering is in a car.  Amazing metaphor for our life….read on to learn more.  I give a special acknowledgement for my friend, John Washington, “Z” car extraordinaire who contributed to this article and my experience in driving his car!

Do you have power steering in your car?

Modern cars have power steering because it allows automotive engineers to make cars more stable, i.e., more likely to travel in a straight line, or return to straight ahead travel when encountering deviations from the straight line. Obviously, this allows safer operation of the vehicle even at relatively high speeds that don’t require very much steering wheel input.

“Power steering” (technically “power ASSISTED steering”) has a little pump on the engine that supplies additional force to the steering gear for overcoming the mechanical stability of the high-speed steering gear on modern cars. Thus, the car is safer for high speed operation AND it is user friendly even in low speed operation.

For those of you that are wondering what the point is with this lesson in car structure and terminology?  And what does this have to do in this point in your own self-realization/personal growth?

Allow me to explain.

After driving my friend John’s car for a couple of days, (a car without the abovementioned power steering) I had quickly adapted to not having power steering to easily guide and maneuver the car.  I had to use a lot of my own strength to get the car to even think about turning, or so it seemed.  I was a lot more conscious about the timing of my pressure on the wheel and making sure I turned it far enough with enough strength to get me where I had to go.  I even had to utilize a majority of my body and motion to make those turns, when normally I don’t even have to put thought or much motion into driving my own car that has power steering.

The day after my trip, and return to my own car, was quite a shock on my body and mind.  My Spirit even took notice.  I barely touched the wheel and it sent the car off in motion - almost too far off my directed path after driving John’s car.  Had I not been paying attention, I could have landed in the neighbors garden!  My control of the wheel overshot the norm and I almost lost control as a result.  Stark contract to normal driving for me.  No longer did I have to “power” the steering wheel as I had over the weekend, it had its own method of guiding me and directing me, effortlessly, down the highways and byways of life.  I just got to hold on loosely and not let go.

Often times in life I have found myself wanting to be like the driver of the car without power steering.  I find myself holding on tighter and putting my whole body into the energetic aim of controlling the situation at hand, literally and figuratively.  My grip on the “wheel” (ie my life) created a lot of tension in my body, my mind and my Spirit, leaving me focused more on the control beneath my fingertips (ie my day-to-day choices).

Whether it be in closing that sale or finishing that run or controlling that conversation - its amazing the difference in the outcome and in my own health and well being when I try to “power” steer through something versus just holding on loosely (just like the old 38 Special  song) and not letting go.  If I cling too tightly on the wheel that is already loaded with the power steering option, that is when I can cause an accident or mishap.  Same goes in my life.

Give that some thought this week.  What are you “power” steering in your life?  Is it your career?  Your financial situation?  Your relationship?  Your health?  I encourage you and leave you with this.  You can still get to where you are going while holding on loosely and not letting go of that steering wheel of life.

Here’s to you!

Yours in Transformational Success,

Lois Tiedemann

Releasing Fat - Why Diets Don’t Work

Do you often find yourself falling off the wagon of any fad diet?  Do you struggle with blood sugars being balanced?  Or you just tired of those extra few pounds around the mid-section?

I recently discovered a program online that is tried AND true!  I utilized it myself and am now sharing it with my coaching clients and consulting others on what I have found to work for me.

Go to www.ReleasingFat.com to learn more about an amazing program that will guide you to release the fat you want and maintain a balanced lifestyle in the process.  In the meantime, here is a short e-mail message from the program that explains why diets don’t work.

One-third of the population is on a diet and one-third of the population is trying to maintain their weight at any one time.  Americans are spending over thirty billion dollars each and every year on diets.  So why is the waistline of Americans continuing to expand at an unprecedented rate?  One would have to conclude that diets simply do not work.  The main reason diets do not work is because that they are a short-term solution for a long-term problem.  The connotation is that if you are going to go on a diet, then sometime in the future you are going to come off that diet—usually returning to the unhealthy eating habits that created your weight problem in the first place.  So even if you are able to lose weight on your diet, statistics show that almost all of you will gain the weight back and more in a very short period of time.

The answer is not in the most recent fad diet or weight-loss craze.  The answer is realizing that you must develop healthy lifestyles for a lifetime that happen to have the side effect of fat loss.  You need to implement a long-term solution for a long-term problem.  Understanding why you gained all your excess weight in the beginning is important, but you must realize that the answer is not in a diet.  The answer is in a new, healthy lifestyle.  The health benefits are optimal health, increased energy and focus, lower blood pressure, decreased cholesterol and triglycerides, decreased risk of heart disease and diabetes, and of course, decreased weight.  But the most important aspect is the fact that this will be permanent weight loss because you will choose to continue these healthy lifestyles for a lifetime.  They will simply just become a new way of life.
